Crafted from 100% wool, it features a distinctive two-stage sleeve setting: the shoulder width is emphasized, but rather than flaring outward, the sleeve is set through the underarm circumference alone, keeping a soft drape while preserving a strong shoulder line. Pinched detailing along both sides of the back adds definition and sharpens the overall shape.
The fabric is Loro Piana Wool Doeskin, a textile made from carefully selected and blended Australian Merino fibers using a process Loro Piana has refined since the 1970s. After weaving, the fabric undergoes a fulling stage for compact density, then a brushing stage that aligns the surface fibers in one direction; a final finishing process locks that brushed texture in place. The result is a soft, supple fabric with a beautifully even, refined surface.
Launched in Japan in 2016 by designer Kiichiro Asakawa, stein takes its name from the German-Jewish surname convention (as in Einstein) with the connective element removed, a nod to the idea of "unfinished." The brand explores that space between stillness and motion, minimal and maximal, mode and tradition.
