Designed for two players aged four and up, matches take about five minutes or more on a compact three-by-four grid board. Players take turns moving their pieces, and landing on a space held by an opponent's monster lets you capture it and turn it into an ally of your own. You win by capturing the enemy Dragonlord or Zoma, or by safely advancing your own boss monster into the opponent's end zone.
It is a fantastic tool for building concentration and critical thinking through lighthearted play. The set comes complete with eight monster pieces, one folding shogi board, a rulebook, and a handy storage pouch so you can take your monster battles anywhere.
Dragon Quest Monster Shogi: Let’s Catch Monsters! is a mini shogi game played on a 3 x 4-square board with 8 monster pieces. Each piece features Slime icons indicating its possible movement directions, making it easy for children to learn the basics of shogi.
Players capture opposing pieces to add them to their side. Win by capturing the opponent’s Dragonlord or Zoma piece, or by moving your own Dragonlord or Zoma piece into the opponent’s area.
