This Goshuin comes from Honfukuji, known throughout the area as the "Sakura Temple" for its ever-changing seasonal blooms: plum blossoms from January to March, cherry blossoms in March and April, azaleas through April and May, and maple leaves in late autumn. Since 2019, the temple has planted 100 cherry trees a year as part of an ongoing project, with plans for 250 trees in bloom within three years, alongside upcoming night illuminations to showcase the sakura after dark.
Collecting Goshuin is a cherished tradition in Japan, a tangible link to centuries of temple culture, seasonal beauty, and quiet devotion. Because each card is written by hand, slight variations are natural, so no two are ever quite the same.
