It connects wirelessly via Bluetooth 5.0 and works with Nintendo Switch 2, the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED models.
Underneath its cute look, the controller relies on magnetic TMR (Tunnel MagnetoResistance) sticks: non-contact sensors that resist wear and hold their precision longer than HORI's earlier designs. The slim, inward-curving grips suit a range of hand sizes, and at 235g (up from the standard HORIPAD's 180g) the added weight gives it a steadier feel in hand. Built-in gyro and accelerometer sensors track motion seamlessly, while programmable back buttons make quick work of complex moves like dashing or aiming.
A two-stage button lock helps prevent accidental presses during heated matches: the first stage locks the HORI, HOME, and Capture buttons, while the second adds the + and - buttons for extra peace of mind.
The dedicated HORI button unlocks three more tricks. Turbo and turbo hold functions let you fire off rapid inputs at three speeds (about 5, 10, or 20 times per second), even without holding the button down. The assign feature lets you remap, duplicate, or disable buttons to your liking, including setting a single button to trigger two others at once. A profile save function keeps up to two custom setups stored directly on the controller, ready to switch between instantly.
This is a wireless-only controller (no wired or PC connection) and requires your Switch 2 system be updated to the latest version. It doesn't support HD Rumble 2, amiibo reading/writing, headphone mic jacks, or waking the Switch 2 from sleep. On a full charge, expect up to about 10 hours of play, roughly 3 hours to recharge, and a wireless range of about 10m.
