Michio Kadotani ’87 KAD 3:4:5:6 LP with Booklet Limited to 300 Copies

This special LP brings the late artist's 1987 bedroom recordings directly to your turntable, limited to just 300 copies and offering an intimate, unvarnished portrait of one of Japan's most enigmatic indie voices.
Mastered straight from the original home-recorded cassettes, this pressing keeps the same phase as the source tapes while removing the heavy crackling noise that could easily be mistaken for record scratches. The cutting leans into raw rock dynamics, giving it a sound distinct from the CD edition. Seven tracks are included, recorded between February and May of 1987 in Kadotani's own bedroom studio.
The inner sleeve features a striking oil painting by Kadotani, found at the Nakajima family home and reminiscent of Francis Bacon's expressive style. Mastering, graphics, and liner notes are by Jun Morita, with an essay by So-si Suzuki and cover photography by Reiko.
This brand-new pre-order release also includes a replica of Shihen, a 12-page booklet of Kadotani's poetry originally handed out at his 1996 memorial concert in Yamaguchi. Orders are scheduled to ship in early February 2026.

The LP uses the original cassette phase, with extensive crackle-like noise removed. It omits “Escape Away (Take 1),” which overlaps with the P.S.F. release, and the CD bonus track “Ke Su Ku Se.” The inner sleeve features an oil painting by Michio Kadotani.
All tracks were written, composed, and performed by Michio Kadotani, recorded in a bedroom studio and sourced from the tape ’87 KAD 3:4:5:6.
