The Nintama Rantaro franchise began as a manga serialized in the Asahi Elementary School Newspaper in 1986, and the anime has charmed generations of fans since 1993 across television, stage, and film. This feature film reunites key creative talent from the series: director Masaya Fujimori, who also helmed the 2011 theatrical release, and screenwriter Kazuhisa Sakaguchi, who wrote both the original novel this film is based on and episodes of the TV series. The full voice cast returns as well, including Minami Takayama as Rantaro, Masaki Tanaka as Kirimaru, Ichiryusai Sadatoom as Shinbee, and Shunhiko Seki as Hansuke Doi, bringing genuine weight to this darker, higher-stakes story.
This deluxe edition is packed with extras for devoted fans. Based on the novel Nintama Rantarō: Dokutake Ninja Squad’s Strongest Strategist by Kazuhisa Sakaguchi, this theatrical feature follows Rantarō, Kirimaru, and Shinbei as they search for their missing teacher, Hansuke Doi. After Doi disappears following a battle with the Tasogaredoki Ninja and a mysterious swordsman, the strongest forces of the Dokutake Ninja Squad stand in the way. The bonds between the Ninjutsu Academy students and Doi-sensei are put to the test.
The approximately 89-minute feature is presented in 1080p 16:9 Vista format. Audio includes Japanese DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, Japanese Linear PCM 2.0 stereo, and barrier-free Japanese voice guidance in DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 stereo. Barrier-free Japanese subtitles are included for the main feature.
