Start Buying from JapanStep back into the early days of Japanese personal computing with the Sony PCGA-CRWD1, a CD-RW and DVD-ROM drive built as an external disc reader for vintage Sony VAIO laptops. Its brushed metallic housing carries the distinct look that made VAIO a favorite among computer enthusiasts, back when Sony turned utilitarian laptops into stylish multimedia machines.
The drive runs on DC 10V at 1.5A and connects through a proprietary Sony port rather than a standard USB cable. All original accessories are included.
As a pre-owned item, it shows some visible scratches and light dirt on the body. The previous owner used it with a VAIO laptop; once that computer was disposed of, the drive went into storage, so its operation hasn't been tested in a long time. Still, it remains a fascinating piece of tech history, well suited for collectors, retro display setups, or vintage hardware repair projects.
