Spring Hanami Dango Wooden Stamp

Order via Japan Rabbit

Celebrate hanami season on paper with this wooden dango stamp set from Kyo-hanko Akane*. Inspired by the sweet rice dumplings enjoyed during cherry blossom viewing, it lets you build your own custom dango skewers right on the page, whether you're decorating a planner, postcard, or piece of craft paper.

Japan has long paired seasonal flower viewing with treats like the classic three-color sanshoku dango. This layered stamp design makes it easy to recreate that look. Simply press the 10 by 32 mm wooden block to lay down the skewer and frame outline, then add the dumpling colors with the 9 by 9 mm color stamp. Peeking at the rubber face from above as you press helps keep the colors lined up neatly inside the frame.

Swap your ink shades and you can mix up the menu: pink and yellow-green for classic sanshoku dango, moss green for matcha-style cha dango, sandy topaz for a glossy mitarashi glaze, or warm brown for a red bean paste finish. It's a charming, versatile addition to any paper craft collection, and a fun piece of handmade Japanese stationery to bring a bit of spring to your desk all year round.
