Step back into 1920s America with the Grand Sportif black boots by The 2 Monkeys. Back then, the word "boots" meant a tall silhouette, roughly ten to sixteen inches, reaching from the calf to just below the knee, and worn by workers and adventurers tackling rugged outdoor conditions. This seasonal release takes the brand's signature Sportif moccasin boot design and stretches it to that same commanding calf-length height: about ten inches tall on a US size 8.
Crafted from supple Italian horsehide, the upper is dyed black in Japan over a rich tea-core base. As you wear them, the black finish slowly gives way to reveal that natural tea-core color underneath, building a rich patina over time. Despite the height, the soft, foot-hugging leather makes for a surprisingly comfortable fit.
The construction combines Goodyear welt and McKay stitching to narrow the waist of the sole, pairing it with a slightly pitched heel for the graceful curves of an old-time boot. As a handmade leather product, every pair carries subtle natural variations in grain and tone, giving each boot its own individual character.
The 2 Monkeys Grand Sportif is a 2025 mid-season seasonal item, a calf-height version of the brand’s classic Sportif boot. This moccasin-style boot measures approximately 10 inches from insole to collar in US size 8 (25 cm).
The upper is made from Italian horsefront leather, black-dyed in Japan to reveal a brown core with wear. The leather is soft and molds comfortably to the foot, while the dye-and-pigment finish develops a rich patina over time.
Like the standard Sportif, it combines Goodyear welt and McKay construction with a narrowed waist, creating elegant curves complemented by a slightly higher pitched heel. As handmade genuine-leather footwear, grain, color, wrinkles, marks, stitching, finish, and dimensions may vary between pairs, with possible length variation of approximately 1 to 2 cm. Color transfer or fading may occur.
