Advance the lead simply by pointing the tip down and shaking the barrel: no fiddling with tiny knobs mid-sentence. When you're ready to put it away, push the clip upward to lock the mechanism and prevent accidental lead extension inside your bag or case.
At the top sits a twistable, phthalate-free MONO eraser measuring 5.3mm in diameter and 26mm long, released by turning the top unit counterclockwise. When the lead runs low, pull out the eraser unit and refill from the back of the shaft; each pencil is good for around three refills before it's time for a fresh eraser too.
