Fine lines of hand-painted script wrap the surface of this Kutani ware matcha bowl, the work of master calligrapher Oda Seizan. Each character traces the teachings of Senke Cha no Michi, the Way of Tea as passed down through the Senke school, finished with the artist's own kaō signature mark worked into the design.

This chawan is a secondhand antique tea ceremony utensil and comes with its original wooden storage box (tomobako). Kutani ware is known worldwide for its detailed artistry, and Oda Seizan's micro-calligraphy technique stands out as one of its rarest, most specialized forms.
