Satsuma Ware Nagata Pottery Sake Set Tokkuri Flask & Ochoko Cups

Pour your favorite drink with this traditional Japanese sake set from Nagata Toei. Crafted in the distinctive Shiro-Satsuma (White Satsuma) style, the set includes one flask and three matching cups, each decorated with elegant bamboo and chrysanthemum motifs painted over a characteristic cream-colored crackle glaze.

White Satsuma ware traces its roots to the early Edo period, when the rare white clay used to make it was found only in a small part of Satsuma domain. This scarcity made the ware a luxury item in its own right; the finest pieces were even presented to the Shimazu clan and other feudal lords, earning them the name "Kenjo Satsuma."

Made in Japan, each piece carries the Satsuma stamp on the bottom and comes inside its original wooden box. The flask measures approximately 16.5 cm in height and 6.5 cm in width, with a 3 cm spout. Each cup measures roughly 6 cm wide and 4.5 cm high.

This set is unused, though it has been kept in long-term home storage after being received as a gift. The ceramics remain in lovely condition overall; one cup shows a small mark from the original kiln firing. The wooden box has some sun fading and age-related wear from storage.
