Painted nearly 420 years ago during the Azuchi-Momoyama period, the original ink painting is a designated National Treasure housed in the Tokyo National Museum. He was in his fifties, and grieving the early loss of his son, when he painted Pine Forest; some believe he worked from memory, picturing the coastline where the two once walked together. That quiet landscape still holds a deep personal resonance for viewers today.

A portion of the proceeds from this product will be donated to the Japan Red Cross in support of recovery and reconstruction efforts following the Noto Peninsula earthquake and heavy rain disasters of 2024.
