Antique Japanese Funadansu Hanging Inkstone Box with Small Drawers

Traditional iron-style hardware and sturdy timber shape this Japanese wooden drawer chest, styled after historic merchant ship safes and calligraphy boxes. Its small drawers suit accessories, writing supplies, or other small daily items. This piece ships from Himeji City in Hyogo Prefecture under reference number 25-3179.

Chests like these, historically known as funatansu, were crafted in Japan to hold money, inkstones, and ship logs during trade voyages.
