Built for those who appreciate traditional Japanese kitchen tools, this artisan bamboo rice paddle has earned the trust of even the most exacting sushi shop owners, the kind who accept nothing less than perfection from their tools. It's made from dense Moso bamboo grown in regions with large temperature shifts, which gives the fiber exceptional strength, natural durability, and very little tendency to warp.
Production is strictly limited: only the thickest root section of a single bamboo stalk can be used, and even a prime stalk yields roughly ten paddles at most. After the basic shape is cut from a bamboo board using a specialized mold, master artisans carve the final curve and grip entirely by hand, relying on touch and years of experience rather than measurements. Because every piece is shaped this way, subtle variations in curve, color, and size make each paddle virtually one of a kind.
To care for the paddle, rinse it quickly by hand, wipe away all moisture, and let it dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated spot out of direct sunlight. Never soak it or put it in a dishwasher. When storing, avoid airtight plastic bags, as they trap moisture and can lead to mold.
Premium handmade bamboo rice paddle, crafted from carefully selected extra-thick Moso bamboo. Only about 10 paddles can be made from one large bamboo stalk, using the thick base section.
Each paddle is hand-shaped and hand-carved by skilled artisans, with a thick, rounded handle and a gently curved blade. Natural material and handmade construction mean that color, shape, size, and curve may vary slightly.
Rinse quickly by hand, wipe completely dry, and dry thoroughly in a well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight. Do not soak or use in a dishwasher. Store away from direct sunlight in a well-ventilated place, not in plastic bags or other non-breathable containers.
