Kanagawa Local Sake and Liqueurs (Plum Wine, Yuzu Sake, Fruit Liqueur)

Order via Japan Rabbit

Omar Cask Strength Wine Barrel is a Taiwanese single malt with a sophisticated twist. This limited release finishes its maturation in local Black Queen wine barrels, then goes straight into the bottle at cask strength, no dilution. Every pour brings a rich sensory profile of raisins, warm spices, and delicate florals: a combination that earned it 95 points at the Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2021.

Omar comes from the Nantou Distillery, established by the Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corporation and distilling since 2008. Since 2014, the distillery has picked up strong recognition every year at major competitions like the World Whisky Awards. Nantou's standard Omar lineup includes bourbon barrel and sherry cask expressions, but the distillery's roots lie elsewhere: it was once known for producing fruit wines and liqueurs from local tropical fruit. Drawing on that history, Nantou also finishes small batches of whisky in those same fruit wine casks, an experimental approach unique to this distillery. It's given Omar a flavor profile unlike anything else out there, and helped the brand rise quickly to international acclaim as a rising star in whisky.
