SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical Z-mount Lens (Scheduled for Release April 2026)

Order via Japan Rabbit

The SEPTON 40mm F2 Aspherical Z-mount brings classic optical design to modern full frame mirrorless cameras, scheduled for release in April 2026. The versatile 40mm focal length sits comfortably between a wide angle and a standard view, making it a natural fit for street photography and everyday snapshots. With a compact length of just 32mm from the Z-mount face, it slips effortlessly into your bag for daily carry.

Inside, a seven element design builds upon the traditional six element Orthometar configuration by adding one aspherical lens element. This optical setup yields extremely low distortion for clean, natural lines across the frame while maintaining a bright F2 maximum aperture. A close focusing distance of 0.3 meters makes it ideal for tabletop photography and close-up detail work. The lens includes a dome-shaped metal screw-in lens hood with a 52mm front thread, designed to accept the same front cap whether the hood is attached or removed.

Integrated electronic contacts communicate directly with compatible Nikon Z bodies running current firmware. This connection passes full Exif data to the camera, enables three-axis in-body image stabilization, and activates three digital focus assistance modes: focus point color changing, focus peaking, and frame magnification.
