This figure comes from Yakushigama, a ceramic brand by Chugai Toen in Seto City, Aichi Prefecture, a pottery town with over a thousand years of history. The brand takes its name from a small shrine to Yakushi Nyorai, the Buddha of healing, once located at its founding site. Traditionally, a beckoning cat's right paw is said to invite money and its left paw people, while cats with both paws raised invite both. Yakushigama's cats break from that rule: no matter which paw is raised, each one is believed to carry Yakushi Nyorai's blessing for health and long life.
Every Yakushigama piece is produced under the supervision of the Maneki Neko Museum and made by hand, one at a time, by dedicated artisans, bringing a genuine piece of Japanese craftsmanship to your shelf.
