Tomoharu Funahashi Round-Corner Wooden Tray, Extra Large

Order via Japan Rabbit

This rounded extra-large wooden tray by Japanese craftsman Tomoharu Funahashi brings warmth and quiet elegance to any tabletop. Measuring 407mm by 295mm with a height of 30mm, it's light in the hand yet crafted using traditional bentwood techniques. The curved sides are made of Japanese oak, paired with a white oak thick veneer base, while a swallowtail joint accents the seam, blending sleek modern lines with a touch of nostalgic charm. It suits both Japanese and Western tableware with ease.

Based in Aichi Prefecture, Funahashi honed his skills in furniture making before turning his attention to everyday wooden objects for the home. Each tray is finished with meticulous care, smooth to the touch on every surface, down to the details you'll never see.

The wood is protected with a urethane oil finish that resists water rings while keeping its natural warmth intact. Because the tray is thinly built, it should be handled gently and kept away from direct sunlight, heaters, or strong swings in humidity, which can cause warping or cracking over time.

Since each piece is handmade, subtle variations in size, grain, and wood expression mean no two trays are exactly alike. Simply using the tray helps care for it: the natural oils from your hands soak into the wood with everyday use, deepening its color and luster over time.
