Dashi and Kyoto Chili Oil Furikake Set

Order via Japan Rabbit

Kyoto’s pantry essentials come together in this one convenient set from Maruya, pairing three 80g bags of savory Kyo Rayu chili oil furikake with a pack of Kyo no Dashi (eight 9g broth sachets).

The furikake blends sesame, chili pepper, garlic, and local Kujo green onions with soy sauce for a warm, savory crunch over rice. The dashi sachets combine dried sardine, bonito, mackerel flakes, and kelp for a rounded, everyday umami base perfect for soups, simmered dishes, and sauces.

In Japanese home cooking, furikake and dashi are true kitchen staples, the quiet backbone of comforting meals. Kyoto cuisine in particular is known for turning simple rice bowls and noodle broths into something more refined through careful use of regional ingredients like these.

This online-exclusive bundle keeps for about 120 days (furikake) and 250 days (dashi) when stored away from heat and humidity. It’s an easy way to bring a taste of Kyoto’s everyday cooking into your own kitchen.
