In traditional Japanese incense culture, fragrant woods are prized for their subtle stories and poetic associations. The name Somuru Koromo comes from a classic waka poem by Fujiwara no Teika in the historical anthology Shui Guso. Its twisted grain and antique character give it a dignified presence, making it a rewarding discovery for incense enthusiasts.
The wood comes pre-cut into thin strip pieces measuring roughly 1mm thick, with short edges between 3mm and 8mm. You can easily divide it along the grain by hand or with a small blade. It arrives wrapped in traditional folded paper, packaged inside a box measuring 192mm by 160mm by 23mm.
