Unlike woods that need a few minutes to unfurl their sweetness, Matsu no Midori reveals its elegant sweet note right from the start, then deepens into an even richer aroma after three to four minutes of burning. The name draws on a famous Kokin Wakashu poem by Minamoto no Muneyuki Ason, which describes how the pine's evergreen needles take on an even richer color when spring arrives.
Kyara is the rarest and most treasured class of agarwood in Japanese incense culture. This piece is cut into strip form, about 1mm thick, with a short side measuring between 3mm and 8mm. The grain runs perpendicular to the long edge, so you can split the strip easily by hand or with a utility knife.
Each order comes wrapped in a traditional folded paper packet sized to fit the piece, with a strict limit of one per customer.
