Potter toriimiki works out of Tokoname City, Aichi Prefecture, a region long celebrated for its ceramic tradition. Each piece is hand-coiled, with traces of shells and sand gathered from the beach pressed gently into the raw clay before firing. A white glaze finishes the surface, catching light with a soft, almost colorless glow, like sunlight flickering through leaves.
Because the piece is tossed by flame inside the kiln, no two results are ever quite alike, even when fired under the same conditions. The artist welcomes these small unpredictabilities as part of the work's beauty.
This brand new ceramic piece measures 7.5 cm in diameter, stands 3 cm high, and weighs 50 g. It is not safe for use in the microwave, dishwasher, or oven.
